Verdict: I went back twice during my stay in Italy (probably would have gone back even more often if I wasn’t staying in tiny towns where they didn’t have stores), and I’ll definitely go back again.

We passed this shop after we’d already had a fulfilling dinner of pasta and pizza down the street. But I couldn’t possibly miss anything that has to do with potatoes, and both the smell wafting out of the shop and the line inside looked promising. So I convinced myself that a vacation was hardly the time to concern oneself with carbs and calories, and walked right in.IMG_2774IMG_2775

I went with a small one (which was already quite a large cone) with Samurai, one of their best-selling sauces, which was described as “una salsa rosa dal gusto secco e piccante,” a pink sauce with a dry and spicy taste. The sauce was creamy with just the right amount of heat. But what really grabbed my taste buds was the potatoes. Perfectly fried, crispy on the outside, soft and starchy inside. They also had a surprising complexity of flavor, with a subtle, lingering sweetness at the end that almost reminded me of sweet potato fries. I don’t know what potatoes they used, but well done. Cheers!IMG_2776
